It’s hard not to be overwhelmed by the beauty of the many animals God created, each with their own unique abilities, from the tiny spiders who weave intricate webs that make us stop and stare as they glisten with dew …

… to the majestic elephants who trumpet with their powerful trunks …

… to the bees who put important decisions to a vote …

… to the fish who gently rub against one another to show affection …

… to the birds who fill our mornings with sweet melodies …

… and to the companion animals who make our lives better every day …

… all are precious in His sight.

This Thanksgiving, as we show our gratitude for all the blessings that God has given us, let’s remember the awe-inspiring animals He created, who fill the air, land, and sea with His majesty. Let’s give thanks for them, and as we ask God to continue to bless and keep us throughout the coming year, let’s remember the ones who need those prayers the most. Here are a few beautiful prayers for animals you can use and share. Of course, choosing to pray aloud can help family, friends, and church members have more empathy for animals.

While we ask God to bless animals, let’s remember that we can be blessings to them, too—by volunteering at a shelter or adoption clinic, treating our loved ones to a tasty “ThanksVegan” feast, remembering animal nonprofits in our charitable giving, buying cruelty-free holiday gifts, and leaving a message of kindness everywhere we go with PETA’s leaflets and free vegan starter kits.
