Are you looking for quick, easy, and delectable vegan dishes to serve at your church’s Christmas celebration or family’s holiday meal? Whether you’re vegan, dining with someone who is, or just “testing the waters,” here are some suggestions for irresistible cruelty-free fare that’ll help you celebrate Christ without cruelty:

Succulent Main Courses

There are plenty of delicious ready-to-eat vegan products, but our top pick is Gardein’s Savory Stuffed Turk’y. Other flavorful options include Turtle Island Foods’ Tofurky Roast and Field Roast’s Celebration Roast.

“Veganize” The Classics

You can easily switch out animal products for vegetable stock, vegan margarine, and unsweetened nondairy milk to “veganize” family favorites such as stuffing and mashed potatoes with gravy. Instead of eggs, use Ener-G Egg Replacer in breads and savory dishes, and use apple sauce or bananas in sweet baked goods. Go to PETA’s website to find more alternatives to dairy products and eggs.

Divine Desserts

Decadent nondairy, egg-free desserts from New York City’s famous Candle Café are now available at most Whole Foods Market If you purchase all four varieties, I wish your guests the best of luck as they struggle to choose among Chocolate Mousse Tart, Raspberry Linzer Tart, Vanilla Cheesecake, and Chocolate–Peanut Butter Tart. If there isn’t a Whole Foods near you, make your own vegan desserts at home.

Cruelty-free Cookbooks

If you choose to whip up your own vegan dishes, I recommend picking up The Kind Diet by vegan Alicia Silverstone or The New York Times bestseller The Conscious Cook by vegan chef Tal Ronnen.

PETA’s Recipes

And of course, you’re always more than welcome to browse through the hundreds of vegan recipes on PETA’s website.

As you prepare for your upcoming church events this Christmas, keep in mind these convenient suggestions, which are sure to please all palates and open a dialog about how your fellow believers can help end animal suffering.

P.S. While you’re here, order a few free vegan starter kits or email us to get our brand-new leaflets to give to folks who ask about your cruelty-free diet!
