Creation care is becoming a serious topic within the church, from the Pope’s recent encyclical urging Christians to make choices that help the environment to Christians going vegan in order to ensure that all God’s creatures are protected from cruelty. One Denver parish even hosted a vegan fish dinner. Yup, that’s right.

LAMBS recently partnered with St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Denver to host the church’s first-ever free vegan fish dinner to kick-off its brand-new Creation Care Program. We dished out crispy “fish” tacos featuring Gardein’s award-winning tasty fish-free filets served on tortillas with coconut-lime slaw, red onion, pickled mango, and vegan tartar sauce. Other delicious dishes on the menu included Cuban style black beans and a mixed green salad with an agave dressing.

The dinner was just one of many events that will teach the congregation and community how our everyday choices can help animals. Future events will include screenings of animal documentaries Blackfish and Peaceable Kingdom, and all events will be free and open to members of the public.

Want to get your church involved in protecting animals? Shoot us an e-mail, and we can help!
